From Stressful Diets to Conscious Eating: A wonderful side effect of my deep dive into mindfulness this last year has been the concept of conscious eating. Oprah says conscious eating is: “eating anything we want slowly and consciously and enjoying every spoonful until we no longer feel the sensation of pleasure.” When you are connected with your mind and spirit, your body can’t help but get on board. Meditation and mindfulness of the body can help you get in touch with what your body needs to feel healthy, full, and nourished.
Detaching from outcomes: I’ve been studying A Course In Miracles and it says if we want to manifest the reality we want, we must be in an energy of detachment. We must be willing to allow and receive. When you are weighing yourself every day, you’re not in the flow of life. So what can you do to accomplish your weight loss goals without monitoring the outcomes? Focus on making yourself as happy as possible with things other than food. Take a bath, read a positive book, watch an uplifting show, meditate, whatever makes YOU happy. I was talking with a friend the other day and was really feeling out of alignment and I said I should go to the gym but I would rather eat a bowl of Fettuccine Alfredo. She said, “Then eat the Alfredo!”. If we’re listening to our bodies and doing the next right thing that will bring us joy, we can’t go wrong. I ate the Alfredo, and the next morning, got back on track eating healthy, went to the gym, and felt great!
Vitality is such an important aspect of flow. When we eat healthily, we feel good. When we feel good, we have a positive outlook on life, when we have a positive outlook, we flow through life with more ease and contentment.
So, here is the smoothie I’ve been making since January, I keep tweaking it so that it gets healthier and healthier and my kids still love it! It is vegan and packed with vitamins and protein to give everyone tons of energy.
